Project Spotlight: Skinny Mixes Influencer PR Kit

How The Branded Things created the influencer PR kit and branded GWP items for the Skinny Mixes Stix product launch.

Skinny Mixes Branded Frother

The Project
A Product Launch That Had to Work on Camera

When Skinny Mixes was ready to launch their new Stix line, Proffee Stix protein coffee and Refresher Stix electrolyte drink mixes, they needed more than packaging. They needed something that would perform on social.

The launch had two connected pieces: a custom influencer PR kit sent to creators, and branded gift-with-purchase items that shipped inside bundles sold directly to customers. Both had to look great, hold up on camera, and feel like they came from a brand with serious attention to detail. That is where we came in.

The moment an influencer opens a box on camera, every decision that went into that box is either working for the brand or against it. There is no neutral.

What We Built
The Influencer PR Kit

We consulted on the kit build from the beginning, working through what product would go inside, what else needed to be included to make the kit feel complete, and what size box those decisions required. Getting that right before anything goes to production is the part most people skip, and it is exactly where things go wrong.

Once we had a clear picture of the contents and the brand’s goals for how the kit should land, we managed production end to end: sourcing, spec, proofing, production management, and delivery. This time, the creative artwork on the box came from Skinny Mixes’ own design team, though oftentimes brands rely on us to develop their influencer kit design. Our job was to make sure everything executed correctly and arrived exactly as intended.

Kits included the new Skinny Mixes product lineup, a branded pink frother, and enough visual variety inside the box that every influencer had multiple things to hold up, point to, and talk about. That was not an accident. When you build a kit for social content, you are choreographing the unboxing before the influencer ever touches it.

The GWP
Branded Items That Shipped With Every Bundle

The branded pink frother was not exclusive to the influencer kit. It also served as gift-with-purchase items that shipped inside Skinny Mixes bundle orders during the Stix launch window, turning a standard e-commerce order into something that felt like a gift.

The frother was branded with the Skinny Mixes logo and color palette. It is the kind of item that photographs well, gets kept, and gets used every day which means ongoing brand exposure long after the launch window closed. That is what a good GWP item does. It earns its place in the order.

The Bigger Picture
Why the Box Is a Marketing Decision

A lot of brands treat the influencer kit as the last step in a launch plan. It is actually one of the most strategic ones.

When an influencer opens a box on camera, the content they create is entirely shaped by what is in front of them. A box that is too small for what it holds looks careless. A kit without a clear hero item gives the creator nothing to lead with. Products that look identical give no reason to pick one up over another. These are not packaging problems. They are content problems that get decided during the kit build.

The frother was the right call for this kit because it is immediately recognizable on camera, it is useful in a way that ties directly to the product, and it photographs beautifully. Every influencer who pulled it out of the box had an automatic content moment. That is what a well-chosen kit item does.

This is how we think about every project we take on. Not just what can we put in the box, but what should go in the box and why...and what does that mean for the person receiving it and anyone watching.

Working With Beverage and CPG Brands
This Is the Work We Are Built For

Beverage and CPG brands launching new products have a specific problem: they need merch and packaging that can keep up with their visual identity and perform in creator content. Most promotional product vendors are not thinking about that. They are thinking about units and lead times. Let's be honest, we are too, but we lead with the goals & handle the rest as part of our every day expertise.

We think about what the influencer is going to hold up first. We think about what a customer sees when they open their order. We think about whether the item you chose is something people will actually use because that determines how long your brand stays visible after the box is closed.

If you are planning a product launch, a new bundle campaign, or an influencer gifting program and you want a partner who thinks through all of it with you, we should talk.
